I wasn't born in shades of Grey unfortunately. Black or white is where Code Red lives.....

Doing pretty good lately. Settling down a bit from a few year of overwhelming stress and disappointment. Getting used to the daily shop stuff on my own. Missing Hodge real bad but, he's doing good for his family and himself and that is real good. Hopefully, we can stay here for a long time. I'm tired of moving.

The title....Well, call it the romantic in me, or the scenic whichever you like.. Just been pondering on the world lately and how awful it is. Must be the 3 kids I got and watching them grow. Its the stuff of substance in life and I feel blessed to have them. Constantly reminded of the little things and how much people just don't get it..... Kids love so much. They are born with it. Little bits of a higher power they are. They have little spirits that love to laugh and want to make everything ok for everyone. They don't understand the hate in this world and don't want any part of the bad things in life. The tragic part is they learn hate and intolerace so fast. They learn how to be ugly from us. The people that are here already before them. From the television to their daily interactions at school. They learn hate, prejudice, betrayal, and letdown so fast. Truth is they have much more to teach us than we do them...... Any-who, not on a downer note. Just a dose of reality each day! Awesome! I wish we could all see the world through their eyes each day. Life would be so simple..

June 19th, Addictive Cycles first century out of Hoschton/Braselton... Be there. Lots a room with a roll up door in da back. Sweet!! Hodge is off working some lame ass job for the off season to support his kids or something. Like that is more important than bikes... Ha! Good then, it worked! Now I can say whatever the hell I want to without hearing any bullshit for it. Ha!

Protein shakes, beer, eratic training habits....That pretty much sums me up right now. Cutting weight for the season, trying to get fit and stay there. Shit, its enough to drive you crazy. Short trip for me I guess.

Got another kid coming out in May. Like I don't have enough on my plate. It will be fun. Its a boy this time. Hopefully, I can keep it together enough to keep riding my bike. I feel like all is against me staying on my bike. Oh, well.... I don't really care. Life is good and i got it made.

Hodge is not dead. Thats good. I thought for sure he would freeze to death at a rest stop aboard that broken down Mazda he was drivin somewhere in North Dakota. He didn't and that is very good. I hate to loose my friend like that. Actually, hes doing great. Having fun and getting to see alot of our great country. Bastard!!!! Well, I drank the last growler of Yazoo with Mattycakes so there....!

Pop is doing great as well. He got a new Harley on some sick deal they had going. He is really happy with it. We went on a 5 hour ride on Sunday and had a blast. He did say that he needed to change the seat and the bars and it would be perfect. Thats how you shake em down. Ride em and figure out what need changing.

Life at the shop is good. Not getting rich but, paying the bills. So far the new lord and savior of the USA hasn't done shit for business. Good thing I don't count on our govmnt for what I need. I just hope he doesn't get us all killed or worse, enslaved in a communist state of depression. As far as I'm concerned the lunatics are in the halls.........

Well, there is your dose of Code Red. Now go ride your bike, drink your liquor and don't call me bitching about anything. All of our awesome friends have organized a benefit ride for Hodgie. It will start at high noon and go on until they kick us outta the park for riding naked thru the woods at high rates of speed while drunk. Or something like that.

Pop update: Well he has finally gone off the deep end of the deep end. His old war buddy Eddie is up this week. Geezus Chrissssttt!! As Eddie would say. These two are armed and dangerous. Eddie smokes more Cigars that they can make in a day in cuba and Pop can out drink any of us including Ron White on comedy night....Straight out. I've tried on many accounts to out drink Pop. But, I'm sad to say I must train for many more years before I can hold my shit together like that. Anyway, Eddie might be the craziest person I have ever met. Yep, I like em. I don't think that man takes anything seriously other than his guns and Cigars. Nice!!!! I have been having a good time watching these two all week. Quite the show I must admit. The term Plausable deniability comes to mind.......

Da Shop!! Well, its on fire as usual. I am missing the Hodge exchanges so I call the prick on the regular. What a pain in the neck!! Ha!! I dragged him outta the house the other day and we went to Pops place. He had been off the pain meds for a few days and was in a damn pain coma. Didn't want to go no where... So I went over and loaded him up. Anyway, he threw some hot wings and beer down his trap and I think he felt pretty good about it. Pop and I had a good time entertaining him with our archery practice for a few hours and then I took him home to rest.

Mattycakes has been coming around and volunteering his help around the shop. Man, I can't tell you what that means. Shit, when your friends step up and help in way that you can't begin to imagine. It makes it all worth it! We have had so many folks helping out, organizing, cooking, etc. I don't have the words. I would list everybody and say thank you's but, I would leave someone out and feel like an asshole. So, thanks!

Oh, if your in Tucker and need yo bike worked on. Stop by Bikeways and see Buddy. One cool phuckin dude!! So go spend so money in his sto!!!!

Code Red out

Whack!!!

Well, most of you know whats goin on here and it sucks!! If you don't know, read the front page of our website. Scott, is doing well and is expected to make a recovery in 3-6 months. It will be a tough road but, he is very fortunate. Most others in his position haven't had a recovery option. It has been a very tough year as most of you know so this has come as the third punch. Ouch! Of course these things are never welcomed even when times are perfect.

Scott, his family and I have been overwhelmed from all the positive response from our biking community. Thank you so much for all your support. It is really nice to know that this come full circle when they need to. Again Thank you to all. If you feel inclined to do something for Scott call me or donate thru the paypal link that Namrita setup.

Current update on Scott:
They are currently releasing him from the hospital and he will be home tonight. He will be very tired I am sure so give him some time to settle in before you go by please. Feel free to call the shop if you want more info. It should be real fun.

Well, my coffee press exploded this morning and I burned the shit outta my hand with hot coffee.. Nice! Turns out that when I adjusted my coffee grinder to a finer setting (per a local expert) it clogged up the strainer and when I pressed it boom! Shit! Wasted some fine coffee and burned myself. Hey, at least I get to ride my bike this weekend.

Look out for POPS place on our front page here soon. That will be a barrel of laughs. Ride your bike and smile cause your saving alot of money and you are withdrawing some of that fat stored in your physical bank from drinking all that beer. Building wheels frames selling all sorts of stuff to a lot of really good people. You cannot beat that...

Are you going to interbike? That seems to be the question I get everyday. The answer is hell no. I can stay home and drink beer with a bunch of pansies, why would I fly all the way to vegas to do that? Besides, that show is too corporate for my style. If you are going, have fun. Just remeber that you are a pansy..... Ha! so there!! I'll be riding my bike and I will be that much fitter than you...........Pansy.....

Single speed championships are this weekend. Be there or be square yo! Am I racing it you ask? Well, I don't race. I often ride my bike with other people that pay to ride the trail. So I will be doing that... ha!! Drunk..and maybe naked so don't miss out on that.

Ok, I am putting this at the bottom because I didn't want to start out on a bummer. Jerry Reed passed away.. A real bummer. I always thought that Johnny Cash and Jerry Reed would live for ever and that they couldn't die. Well, I guess they were so tuff that they decided they wanted to go kick the devils ass...... I sure hope they don't get the chance.....

So raise a coors and shout Goodbye Turkey!! I hope to meet them one day so I can kick their asses......

Code Red Out!!

Last week of summer?

What the hell? That went by fast. We been so busy at the shop I hadn't thought about the fact that fall is like tomorrow or something.

So we have 8 18"Jabberwokys in the shop and 2 16"s. Nice. Funny thing is that the phone was blowing up for these things for months and now that we have em.......crickets! Funny. People are like fish, they are either biting or they are not.. What is even funnier is that I will probably sell all these in one day and the phone will blow up again. Ha! We got some of them fancy adjusters they upgraded to as well. Nice...

I can't wait to ride a mountain bike again. I sold mine as I usually do to someone that wanted it and I have been jonesing for 2 months. I like road bikes and all but, the woods is my thing. Maybe, I'll build one of these Jabbers.

So I think the teams are shaping up well. Gonna, be some fun racin this year. Essentially, the process for the teams will be nice this year. You want to be on it, you go to our site and click a link, purchase a kit by a certain date and bam your on it. Your discounts will be driven by the class you race. If you don't race and want to be on it anyway, well fine. You do the same thing and secure your 10% off for the year. You will get a card with your info on it and such. Really cool. Like a really big club with benefits. I'll keep everyone up to date as this rolls out. Should be real soon.

Cheers,
Cody

Fools

So we went to Fools Gold this weekend and laid down some mad sag stop support. Actually, if it had not been for Mattmatt we would have all been passed out on the groung. Mattmatt is the best support in the country and we take all our tips from him. We had a good time and the racers seemed to be enjoying themselves. To set the record straight, I was not the one that instigated the drinking at 9:30am. However, I did join Hodge in making a very nice pile of PBR cans for the racers to drool over. Mattycakes was there and I do believe that he was the drunkest by noon. Nice! Of course most of the racer boy wanna finish first no matter what types wouldn't have anything to do with drinking beer on the bike but, we were able to persuade most of the single speeders to pony up. Very nice!! All in all it was a good weekend.................next year we will be racing though.!? Oh, and Rachel aka LumberJill is a badass chick. She was able to carry more of the heavy ass shit up the hill 1/4 mile to the sag post than we were. Hodge and I were whipped by the end of the day and she hopped on her bike, went into the woods and rescued the last rider that was winning the terrapin. All the while fighting of panthers with a PBR can. BADASS....

So. I would also like to say that our own Addictive Cycles SS racers did very well and Kicked those pansy ass Vassago factory riders asses!! Ha! And they were hung over too. Yea! Good job fellas. Vassago owes us beers yo!

TEAM update from Fools. Ok. Rich Blanchette finished before Willie, Andy, and Crazy Eyes. He was on fire. I mean the first time he came through the sag 2/3 stop he had that look. He says to me, where are Willie and Andy (thinking that they were in front) and I say we ain't seen em. Rich throws his half eaten PBJ(made by Mattycakes) into the woods and says, and I quote. Those pansies ain't catchin me. Rich jumps on his bike and pedals up the bare hare pass with one foot..Geezuuuuss! About 1 hour later he come thru again running down crazy eyes. Rich doesn't stop, he just pops a wheelie grabs a cold PBR and strafes right by Crazy eyes. Whew!! It was a sight. Later that night Rich was babbling and seemed to be on some type of pain medication as he bolded his story of success. Crazy was busy hacksawing his frame in half while Willie and Andy had some type of smirk on their faces. Not sure what they had been up too........

Sorry about the sunglass swap Care Bear. By that time I was seeing double. Call me when you can and I'll get you the cash yo!

October 25th bitches......... You know what when and where. Marty has a business meeting there and she is taking the kids and some of our relatives to watch them play on the beach. Nice! One problem though. I can't go. Shit!! We are working the Elberton race this weekend which will be fun and all but, I'd rather be with my fam... However, my life is kick ass and I should not be complaining so I will stop it right now..Humph!!

Well, we almost ran outt the new shirts so I ordered more and they will be here today. Pretty cool that everyone seems to dig on em. I am also getting some embroidered fleeces for fall, winter and spring. Nice! Wow, that sounded like a sales pitch. I am so fing lamo..

One week back from the beach and I need another vacation. Whats up with that crap! I never stop to think that we do so much in our lives. Even most of it is good stuff it still brings stress and wears you out. Hmmm. HTFU Code red.......Right..

Gonna reubuild Waynes wheels today. We built him a supa dope set of MTB rollers and he went out and bent both of them on the same rock that several others bend their wheels on. He calls us up sick! So I said, no worries bro. We will relace them at cost. I think he liked that idea and gave us some really good beer. Nice!! I like folks that appreciate good customer service by giving us good beer.

Well, gotta roll out, eat and get to DA shop yo! I gave Hodge 2 days off so don't call me askin for him or I'll thump your skull for you and then rip your legs off on our next ride together.

Code Red out........Peace and war

Blog? Whats that?

Hey peeps. As usual I have waited to blog for a bit. Expendable is the term I guess....

Anyway, alot has transpired since my last lame ass post. Vacations, rides, etc.

Just got done with the 4 days of the GBF support. Crap! We worked out asses off and really had a good time. Lots of good racing and good beer. Yesterdays stage was held in the 8th level of hell. It was so freaking hot out there that the racers were melting by the second. Most survived and seemed to stay in a good mood.

Well, I've been running the globe this month. Hodgie and I took a moto trip up the Blue Ridge parkway to Virginia to see my pops. He was in the VA Hospital getting harrased so the govt will pay his disibility. Anywhoo, we had an awesome time and I cannot wait to do that again. We camped 3/4 of the way there in Linville on Grandfather mountain. Really nice!!

We got back and I took the wife and went to Jamacia for a week. We did absolutely nothing and it was everything I had hoped it would be. I read a few books and looked at the ocean in a drunken state for 6 days. Wow, that was some kind of nice. I have never done nothing. Its not in my nature but, I must have needed that because I feel really different. Good!!!

So we are back and I am in the bikeshop again for a while. Good thing because I like my job. Man this is the best place to work. It was nice to come back and find Hodge had taken care of everything. Imagine that!! He kicked some serious ass while I was gone and I think we made some money. Sweet, maybe I'll go on vacation again....

Sold my MTB. I can't seem to keep a mountain bike under me lately. With the supply problems that Vassago has had I end up selling my personal bike all the time. And so I have been riding the road almost exclusively for 3 months. I am really enjoying it and I have saved alot of money on gas. Been riding to work and pretty much everywhere when I don't have to haul bikes around. Nice!!

We picked up felt bikes. Pretty cool. I can't wait to get some of their 2009 offerings in the shop. They gots some kewl stuff.

Well, gotta go to work. So should you.

Code Red

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://codyyancey.blogspot.com/2008/07/blog-whats-that.html' title='Blog? I rode my bike 4 times this week. Nice! Yargo with Hodgeomaticbinlabadaad..... That was a good day. Had lots of fun on the new drop ins. Yes, I racked myself 3 times trying to clear the first one. It was still fun though. I can't say I'm happy with my performance on that section yet but, practice makes better right? I rode there yesterday and saw some new stuff again. I am really digging that trail system. Yaba is kicking ass over there. They have a really nice mix of beginner/intermediate stuff with some tuff optional obstacles.

I rode Chicopee Thursday afternoon. Let me say this first. I am really appreciative to have trails to ride on and the guys working that trail system in the trenches over there are as stand up as it gets. We support them in every way. Now....Ahem! I have to admit that I was really disappointed that the creek crossing was flatened and paved. I have been riding that obstacle for a long time and I am disheartend that it is gone. No I won't pontificate about it but, lets just say that Mountain biking is supposed to be hard and a few really difficult obstacles are a nice addition to the sport. We got plenty of beginner trail. Everyone wants to flatten the world. Make things easier so that we are not challenged anymore. Challenges make us strive to do better and improve. Anyway..... I'm going on and I said I wouldn't. Chicopee is a great trail system and I guess that is why Hodge and I go on about it everytime they make it easier. Politics are the bain of the human race.....

Class 11 baby!!! My random sentence for today....

Go ride your bikes and stop reading this crap!!

Vassago update..............Well........We got some.....the team stuff is almost fullfilled......We got some for stock......End of next week we will have a shop demo bike......WE HAVE ONE OPTIMUS TI FOR SALE IN 18". It can be geared (not sure why) or single speed. It has interchangeable drop outs for a very clean setup as a single speed. Every company in the world goes thru growing pains. We are no different nor is Vassago. Demand for these coveted frames has sky rocketed and supply has run short. All I can say is that this is a small company and they are fing awesome. They have a great brand and an awesome attitude about bikes. They are slammed all the time. Nice problem to have. Anyway, we will have a few to sell and more in stock in JUNE. So if you want a Vassago you betta get your butt in the shop and get it. By the way, it would be nice if some folks called them up and encouraged them instead of dogging them out for underestimating the demand. Shit happens to all of us and the last thing we need is for people to piss on us when times are tuff. Feedback is cool. I don't like the colors, or why can't I get my frame, or your sizing chart didn't work for me or whatever. Fine, call em up and let em know. Just don't be an asshole about it.

Question and answer:

Can I have a discount - Do you want half a bike? No, I need to pay my bills and feed my kids.

Will you take beer for payment - Depends on the service. Don't expect $90 bucks in repair to exchange for $15bucks in beer. Sure we take beer, just make sure its and evenish trade....

Can you fix my bike now - Maybe. It depends on what it needs and how many I have ahead of you. 5 min repair......sure.

Where is Scott - Spending time with his Family, riding his bike, he is off today.

Where is Cody - See where is Scott. Ha!

What is class 11 - I can't tell you that. Go ride with us and you might find out.

Who is Sir Richard - Sir Richard is a figment of your imagination.

Why do you ride that rigid single speed - simmer down, you can't handle the truth just now.

Ok, that was fun. Anyway, go ride your bikes. Have fun and don't forget that the world is not out to get you. Life turns and twists and you gotta roll with it. What the hell? Crazyness for sure. We need the rain so I'm not going to complain too much. Just this gloomy crap is not doing anything for a positive motivated mood. Yikes! I need a trip to Jamaica or something. A week on the beach would be nice! Unfortunately, I'm not one to lay around for long so I would probably not get too much relaxing on the beach.

Oh well. Dream on right. Vassagos are still trickling in and out. Just built Dans Jabberwoky and it turned out awesome! All black in true Code Red style. Supa badass. I wish I had some more in here but, that was the last one until the next truck shows up here and brings the minions.

Riding? What is that. Been slammed at the shop and home so I'm spending about 5 hours a week on the bike. It has actually been nice. Somewhat of a break after the 20 hour weeks thru the winter. I'm happy to report that I am getting faster and it doesn't hurt as bad to kill a lap at Chicopee or Yargo. Nice! Thanks Nate.

Good job Addictive Cycles in last weekends sprint racing. Ridgeway is the man. Big Chris scared everyone in his class so bad that they quit and he finished 2nd. Nice!! Big Willie, Kelly Bear, Dave Webster all came out. Good job team guys. No I didn't show up. Catch you at the next one and you betta be ready if your gonna race me....punks!!

Well, betta get to work here. I can't sit around all day blogging. All the real racers showed up and threw down this weekend. All the ones scared of a few tornadoes and inclement weather sat at home and got fatter. BAMB!! How ya like me now?!! The race was awesome. I must have worked on 25 geared bikes the first hour. Only serviced 2 single speeds though. Loose H2O bolts and a gearing change. It was awesome!!!! Muddy, wet, and all the like. I was really impressed at the turnout actually. Tim said that about 85% of the registrations showed up and raced. Hows that for MTB spirit once again. Nice! As for those of you that did not show (you know who you are) well, you are all a bunch of pansies. Proper thanks go out to Steve Ridgeway, Big Chris, Steve Johnston, Kelly Bear, Care Bear (the only dedicated athlete to show) Tim Shroer, and everyone else that came out and raced. Good on ya!

Vassagos?!?!?!?!?? They are actually in the mail. No really. They really are.... I heard it from Kris today. We will get 3 this week and the rest next week. I cannot wait for these to get here. Long time coming. Thanks to all for being patient. Hey, and we will be able to get more if we need em for all you customers that want em.

Happy B-day GG. My littlest turned 2 yesterday. Very cute and cuddly she is. We had a blast of a b-day party with the family. We ate cake and spagetti and overall had a great time. Family is pretty cool most of the time yo!!

The shop is pretty well stocked at this point. It has only taken us a few months but, we got her bustin at the seams. The remodel in our back section is working out awesome. Actually, organized we are. My Bro-inlaw has been pulling some part time hours to help us lately. He does a kick ass job with the show room. I guess all those years he spent working retail thru college are paying off for me. Sweeeet!!

And so it goes... Come out tomorrow night for the road ride so I can kick your arse..

Code Red

Ah ha Time change

Ok,

We can all come out of hibernation now..... Spring is around the corner and I'm feeling it. Warmer days and longer days are a great thing for the spirit. I did good thru the winter. I trained alot and did my best to keep my head down and get thru the cold shorter days without out going nuts. Or, more nuts I guess. Hope you all are doing well and ready to have a great riding season.

Heritage park is this weekend and we will be there doing neutral support and drinking beer. It is hard to race and do neutral support so I'm not going to try to half ass doing both. I want to make sure we support the race and all the racers that need us. Stop by and Harass Hodge if you get a chance.

We both did the Snake this last time around. Man that was tough. I was kinda getting sick and when I hit the trail my body freaked out. I cramped by the half way point and we both bailed to go drink beer and eat Chili. I had a great time though. That trail is awesome!! I will say that I spent a week getting all the mud out of interesting places. Yuk!

Da Shop! Well, it is looking good. We got out stock up finally and we have been real busy working on bikes lately. Nice! We had our back room remodeled so we have much better use of our space. It looks real nice. Thanks Brian Deloughy (Flatfender). He knocked it out for us and it looks and works perfect! Call him for all your carpentry needs!! He is a swell guy....

April 12th at 10am at our shop we will be hosting an Ergon grip clinic for all who dare to show up. Eddie and Namrita from 55nine performance will be here to educate us on the benefits of Ergon grips and you can ask all the questions you want to about using them. They both ride them during their endurance racing and training. We will have free coffee and finger foods. Afterwards we will head out and do a ride at fort Yargo. I am hoping to have some demo vassagos by then for you all to ride around the trail.

We are opening a satellite location at the Caffiene coffee shop in Buford. That is right. Keep your eyes peeled for my or Hodge down there doing repairs and drinking lots of coffee. Our stand is mounted outside under the awning. Nice!! We will do on the spots and some basic repairs. If your bike needs something major we will keep it, fix it, and you can pick it up another day. Just like our main location.

Road rides are kicking up. Tuesday nights at da shop at 6pm. Come out and race!! 34 miles wide open. Everyone is welcome and there will be someone to ride with. This is a fast paced ride by design and you will get faster doing it. We will have a beginner/intermediate ride as well so keep your eyes open for that day and time.

Thats is it for now,

Code Red

Pops new Ride

Ok, here it is. Man this has been a long time coming. This is my dad and he is recently retired on Uncle Sams dime. He has had a hard run and deserves every bit of his fun times to come. This is his first Moto and we brought it home yesterday. So, when you call my cell or send me an email and it takes me a year to get back to you. Just remeber that I'm on my bike riding with my pop and you can wait.. Yea, I got a black one of these back in September. They are really fun to ride. We will be riding with rolling thunder in May in Washington DC. I can't wait to hang with pop on the road. Nice!! We have dreamed and talked about this most of my adult life. I have had several Motos and Pop has always been there wanting one of his own. Now he's got his and I can't remeber that last time I saw him this happy and excited.

So, I'm bloggin again. I got ribbed enough from everyone that wastes their time reading this that I was not putting anything here. No worries. I've just been busy getting rich in the bike shop business. Ha!!! Ha!!! Right..... Something about winter time. It is like a grind from day to day looking for the nice weather to show up. Been busy for sure.

Hodgie and I went down to the Tundra this past Saturday. It was alot of fun. The warmest Tundra that I have been to . We hung out and didn't even have to work. Nice! We rode MTB with Care Bear and got back to the house by 2pm. We could hardly belive how much we accomplished and still got home to spend some time with the families. SWEET!

So stop by the shop and hang for a bit.

Latah,

CR

Do you feel like I do

Probably not.... Man, I haven't seen that many people there since the last race. It was packed with new cyclist. Nice! I really like to see so many people out enjoying our wonder sport.

The ride was awesome. I felt great and really had a good time with alot of good friends. Good luck to Ashley Witter, she is moving to Colorado to be an advertising guru or something like that. The trail was really muddy though. We were covered head to toe and we were loving it. I really like the new stuff. Cudos to YABA for hand cutting so much new trail for us to enjoy. We really appreciate all your hard efforts out there.

About half way around the trail the Dedicated Athlete guys caught us and wizzed by. I couldn't help myself. I had to chase em down for a bit. Fortunately we were headed into the new section before the metal bridge so the mud slowed em down. Nice! I was able to catch up for a bit and harrass them. Those guys are fast!! Especially that Tim owens cat. But, you got to watch him cause he will run into your rear derailler. Haha!! I had managed to get around him (not really sure how) and then someone up front did a brake check and bamb. HA! It was pretty funny. Yep, first rate guys they are. Cheers!

So, the shop has been rather busy. Wheel builds, bike builds and the lot. The warm weather is getting people off their cans and out on their bikes. Sweet. I can feel the season coming right around the corner. Hopefully, we will have our Jerseys and bikes soon. It is looking like Mid February is the magic time. Vassagos will start trickling in as well as the Jersey order. Cannondales will be hitting the shop as well. Oh boy! WE are gonna be covered in bikes. Just burned out I guess. Nothing to do when that happens but, take some time off. So, my mental stability is coming back around and I rode my trainer this morning. I actually enjoyed it. Got myself a new Kurt Kinetic rock and roll trainer. Man, it is the bomb. I love this thing. It is very realistic and the pro flywheel is awesome. It takes forever to coast down. Very nice! You can actually miss a few pedal strokes and not have to sprint to get the trainer back up to speed.

Here at da shop today. It is fun watching eveyone salivate over the Sram red group we have in to build Pauls bike. This group is sick. The rear cassette is a mastery of machine work. I can't wait to build it up and check it out. It is supa light and kewl looking. I hope the front shifter trim works good.

So, care bear came in last night. Brought some puppy chow to help Hodgie with the 10 puppies and his redneck status. Thanks Care Bear!We will be including a free puppy with the next few tune ups here at the shop. So rush in and get one while they are hot!! So, care bears' road bike will explode sometime soon so when you are riding with him keep your distance. Geez. People, that train and race like "we" do should have their bikes overhauled at least 2 times a year. Racing is expensive I know but, if you crash and break your collar bone, or worse, that will cost alot more than an overhaul. Please, keep your bikes maintained. So, I went over his bikes and he should be good for a bit. They were not that bad, I'm just raggin him for fun. Care Bear is good people so give him a pat on the back the next time you see him. Thanks Care bear!!

My bro Matt is here this morning helping me out. He does that alot. Everyone should have a Matt. He is awesome. Always there helping out, expecting nothing in return. Really love that guy. He is currently vacuuming the shop with his son Jack. Jack is a little over a year old and gets into everything. It is cute to watch sometimes....

Well, gotta get to work. Hopefully, you didn't get this far reading this crap. If you did, get a life. Then Ronnie Thomson is a true American winner. Mud, Rain, sleet, wind, 33degrees, cold, wet,and miserable.... and the hardcore still came out to show some respect. They raced their bikes in the worst conditions I have seen in a long time, all in honor of Ronnie Thomson. Not for a trophy or some free product but, for the right to say, yes I was there and I honored someone that honored me by making my life better. Thats right, damn the torpedoes. I'm goin anyway. Yes, I may die of hypothermia or mud poisoning but, it is for my friend. My friend that cared enough about what I am into to make it a better thing to do. I personally have enjoyed many a ride on a Thomson seatpost or stem and I gotta tell ya that when someone comes in our shop and asks for the best seatpost or stem that won't break that they can get, I give em a Thomson and have since 96. For all that showed up, good on ya and for the rest well......time for a priority evaluation.... I hope your ridin a Thomson seatpost or stem bitch...... So today is Hodgies B-day so be sure to call him up and rag on him for getting old. Yea, he is pretty quick on the bike for an old guy. Ha! I bet all this weather is hurting his joints. He probably is having a hard time reading this due to his poor old man vision. Ha! So jump on the wagon and poke some fun. Not too hard though, I wouldn't want him to bust a hip. LOL!!!!hahaha!!!!omg!!!haha!!!!

And that was fun.....

Went riding yesterday at Yargo with the old man and Nate, Eric, Billy, Jay and his badass son Logan. Wow that hurt. I felt ok I guess. We were moving along pretty quick so I can't complain too much. Pretty, much all of us ended up chasing Nate around. Not that we can really catch him or anything but, there is something fun about chasing a pro around on your own turf. I had to remind myself that he is supposed to be way faster than us and that it is ok if you can't catch him until he stops to wait on you. Ha!!! It was cold as a mutha out there too. I was warm as long as I was moving on the bike. When we stopped I started to get icicles on my nose. Geez!! Hence the snow last night and this am I guess.

Don't forget about Thompson day this weekend. Hodge will be going down. I don't think I'm gonna make it. I don't feel right about asking Mike (with the broken collar bone) to work all day by himself in the shop. I'm sure he would be fine but, if he got to feelin bad and had to tuff it out cause of me I would feel really bad and his wife Stacey would kick my ass. So, I gotta see if I can get down there. Anyway, ya'll need to go. It will be a big party and lots of fun will be had. Bruce D will even be there making an ass outta himself on the mic. That is always fun. Bruce is pretty fun most of the time unless he's raggin on you for being last in a race while you are bleeding outta your face or something. HA!!!!

Hodge is old!!

My kids had fun last night playing in the snow. I let them stay up and go out to make some snow balls. Kids are awesome. Mine are still little so they still like me. They are so cute and seem to really enjoy the little stuff like kids do. I love playing with them and watching them learn and observe stuff. Really cool!! GG cold really cold and started crying. The wife and I could figure out what was going on so I took her inside and her little hand were frozen. Man I felt bad. She had mittens on but, it was wet out and they just got cold faster than I expected. So I stripped her down and installed fresh dry warm clothes and she was good. She is not talking yet (except when she decides to out something) but, I knew she was happy that I figured it out. She gave me a big hug as if to say thank you for saving my life. Ha! It was really cute. The older one stayed out with mommy for a bit and then came in. She didn't seem to care that it was cold out.

Well, I can't sit around spouting all day. I gots work to do.

Later,
Cody

Good people still exist

Whew! What a rip roaring week last week. Not as much riding as I needed but, I got alot of other stuff done and had some fun doing other things. Rode Yargo Yesterday and it was a slimey mudhole. I kept expecting to see Yoda peek his head out from behind a spaceship somewhere and tell me a wise thing or two. So, Hodge, myself, and Mr Krista rode the first lap at a moderate pace. I wanted to go slower than they did but, it was still ok and I was able to keep the rev limiter in check. We hit the parking lot and met up with the Dedicated Athlete guys and there went the pace. Geez! I held on for a 1/4 of a mile or so and decided to let them go, cause I didn't want them to feel bad when I went by em. Ha! Whatever right!

Sometimes people surprise you. Ya, know I'm not usually a negative person however, I have learned over time that people are people and they will let you down. Of course that is ok, we are all human and shit happens. No biggie. Well, I had someone actually come back to me in da shop and apologize to me for something and admit that they were wrong. Snap! That was just freakin amazing. I don't hold grudges typically so I had already forgotton about it anyway. It is just really nice when someone steps up and does that.

So anyway. I gave the Hodge the day off and I am taking some time to write here today. I've been slammed and really need to be working but, Hey whatever right. The shop is clean and I'm feeling good about the week.

Cracker was T boned by the cops over in Dacula. So if you do any drivin over there keep a look out for the pokey. He and Stacey were over that way and got set upon by the cop car. She is ok from what I hear and Mike has a broken collar bone. Its not a big deal to here about a cyclist with a broken collar bone, but most do it on the bike.

Really, stinks when someone passes away. Especially, when it is someone that really supports things that you are into. We lost Mr Thompson and that really sucks. That dude really supported the cycling community. I did not personally know him but, I have spent plenty of time with his parts supporting me. R.I.P Ronnie Thompson.

Ahem!! and so another week. Life is good peeps so go out and enjoy it!!

See you on the trail,
Coach

What a day

Ya know, our bike shop has a vortex in it. Sometimes I am amazed at the work we turn out in a day. We are working along for half a day at a moderate pace and boom. It is like people rush the door and we are so busy we can't find our ass with both hands and a search party. It is really awesome how that happens. I love it! Today was a day like that. We were drifting along nicely and all of a sudden bam!! We are fixing bikes and answering the phone evey 10 seconds, eating lunch and takin orders. Yikes! It is awesome. If you are ever at Addictive and you see this happen, grab a burn and sit back and feel it. Pretty cool thing to see I am sure. All along Hodge and I are going at each other like a couple of brothers buckin for a place in line.

So we got the 16inch vassago built up. It turned out awesome. This is the last olive drab Jabberwoky. Hand built wheels and all the fixins. Come check this thing out. I'm really proud at how good it turned out. We also have one large OD-1 left. It has been banging around the shop and we found it again yesterday. It is brand new and ready to build into a punk ass Single speed. This one is gonna be special. Last of the mohicans.

We had a bunch of folks in da shop today. Eric, Billy, Heath, Scottish John, Kelly bear, and the list goes on. Everyone spent some of their hard earned cash too. Nice! We appreciate your business!!

I'm gonna ride out from my house Saturday Morning to the Jittery Joes ride and do the ride and then ride back. So if anyone wants to meet up some where let me know.

Here is some truth for ya:

Bikes are fun.
Good fitting shoes are like morphine....painless
If you think about your saddle while you are riding it is probably not the right one for you.
Hodge is the best mechanic around second only to me of course.
A custom IF is inspiring.
Beer is the best recovery drink.
Bike parts are like wine......money doesn't really relate to quality.

C

Chicopee night ride Wed night

Ok. I'm in transition so that means that I can attack a hill or two for a minute or two. Nice. Can't wait for that.

From what I can tell Mattycakes pushed Al into a tree and smashed his face up. Darn dude. Work on your passing skills. Ha! Al says he is ok and that the doc says they can take care of him. Hope they can make him prettier....

Whew! Worked my butt off the past few days here at the shop so I can't wait to get on my bike and forget about this place for a day or so.

Sweet, see you on da trail.

Cody

The Odea pain train

Note:Yargo will be close Han 7th and 8th. We may do the night ride on thursday instead.

And so it goes. I rode with the Odeas at Yargo today and it was awesome. They took it easy on me so I could hang with them and not feel bad about being slow. The weather was a perfect 65ish degrees and they were still doing base. So I figured I could hang on to them for at least a mile or two. I felt great and pretty much stayed in my heart rate zone most of the way. Nice! I'm still feeling heavy but, I can tell that I am more fit this time than I was last year. Thats good news. Anyway, I pedaled a lap before they got there and did a lap with them and took off to hang with the family. Yes, the Odeas are fast. We were the Vassago army out there today. Three of us with our wierd looking setups. Hey it works and it is fun when people look at you like you are disfigured when you ride by. Ha!

Man, Hodges head will be big this week. Crap! I'm really proud that he did so well but, now I gotta put up with more of his trash talking. Geez. Like I don't have to hear it enough. Hows it going fatty? I could beat you with one leg and that sort of stuff. I usually look at him funny and he shuts up for a second or two. Well, he is fast so I gotta give it to ya bro. You kicked ass!! I new my wheels would make you into a rocket ship. Ha!!!

Got alot done at da shop Saturday while hodge was racing. We moved everything around and cleaned some more in preparation for all the new inventory. We got lots of new stuff coming in, so I will be working my ass off to get it up and priced this week. We are thinking about setting Nate up some space to do the Lt testing and fitting that he has going on. It will be tight but I think we can manage.

MTB Jerseys are finalized and should be here in the next month. Still waiting on the team frames. Vassagos are hot right now. We get lots of questions about them evey week. They will be available soon peeps. Hang in there with us.

Nate says that I will be let off my leash next week so I got to chill this week and ride less and eat right. Sweet! I get to go fast soon. I cannot wait for it. I am so sick of riding slow right now. I need the harder efforts to make my mind stay interested in the volume. Still gotta work on my diet though. It seems to be the hardest part for me. I spent so much time lifting weights and eating like a jar head that it is tough for me to restrict myself the way that I need to.

Don't forget about thompson day eveyone. See you there!!!
Come see us soon,
Coach

It Holler dude!

So Jay came in today and we talked about going ridin. I really wanted to go and had planned to go somewhere. So we made it the college because its easy to get to and you can ride it fast. So he left to get some stuff done and we would meet up and throw down on that little piece of trail. Well, I got caught in the vortex of the shop as usual and did not get to ride. Hodgie left me for a bit and I got some stuff done before he got back. I hate it when I don't get to ride my bike. I just don't feel right when that happens. It is my own fault but, hey the shop usually benefits in some way when that happens. Oh, Jays Last name is Holler not fowler like Hodge said it was. Just for the record....... HOLLER. Is that like yell or whoop or something?

So we had a good week here at Addictive. We are building a bizzillion sets of wheels and Vassago frames. Nice! Maybe, we can actually make some money on this stuff. Ha!

Matt is on his way up tonight to hang out and get us drunk I am sure. That ought to be fun. For some reason we tend to drink when he is around. Maybe it is because he brings beer with him when he comes. YIkes! Not complaining or anything but, it makes it hard to stick to your training plan the next day. ha!

Lots of people in today. C Baily, Shey Shey, Jay, Matt, etc. I like it when folks come in and visit.

I'm ridin outta da shop on the road tomorrow around noon if anyone wants to ride when it is warm. Hodge is doing the Snake on my wheels tomorrow. So if he gets a good time its because he rode my wheels.

Have a good weekend
CR

Jan 1 First ride of the year

It was nice. Went to Chicopee with Big Willie and Crazy Eyes. We had a great ride. Nice pace, not too hard and not too easy. I did the lake loop while waiting on them and we all did the red loop and outer loop. It wasn't as cold as it felt when we got started. I actually got hot in this new Craft base layer that I bought. I like these things. They breathe well and keep you really warm.

The Bandersnatch is awesome! Rides just like the Jabberwoky but with gears. Imagine that. I am running the white brothers carbon fork and its pretty nice as well. The whole bike weighs 23 lbs with a 1x9!! That is freakin awesome for a steel bike. Anyway, I feel really at home on these bikes. I am clearing more obstacles and techy stuff than I usually do. I am just setup right. My setup looks really crazy (this is how Eddy configured me) but, it just works!! Anyway, really great start to the new year.

Gonna be in the shop tomorrow for inventory. We are not open so don't come by wanting in unless you bring beer with you!! I got most of the shop cleaned up but, we have some more work to do. Gotta order in lots of new stuff for yall to buy and keep us open for another year... We are making some changes in da shop so be sure to stop in soon and check it out.

I got Mike adding a store on our website for single speed bits. So you will be able to get your cogs and the sort in the mail Addictive style. This will help save gas. Nice!! We will see how it goes and we may add more stuff after that. I don't like this technology thing. I prefer the face to face thing but, with all the busy lives sometimes mail order is just easier for the cusotmer I guess.

Well, see you around this year.

CR

Quick update

Christmas came and went in the usual fashion. Had fun with the Kids and the family. Kept me diet in check for the most part but, I have not been able to ride very much with all the rain. Yea, we need the water but, darn. I've been busy organinzing the shop with Matts help and Crackers help. I have alot more to do to get things going for the new year at da shop.

The shop van is for sale if any of yall want it let us know asap!!!! We don't use it much and don't want it to rot.

I'll update again in a few days with all the new stuff. I had a really great time. It is nice to know that there are so many insane people out there to hang with. It was in the low 30s and we still had 10 people show. Awesome!! We got in about 1/4 of a mile and Hodges rear skewer broke in half. I'm sure he will go on about it and about how it was his power and leg strength or something. Nope! He is just using a bad combination of broken parts and trying to make them work. PPPPPP comes to mind. And so he headed back to the lot with Jay to do a repair and come backwards to meet us. The rest of us pushed on. The pace was perfect. I only came close to redline a couple of times and just for a bit so I can say that I stayed in in my training plan. We talked alot stopped alot and enjoyed the new reroute sections of the trail. All in all a really good time. I will say that nobody was really cutting up like we normally do. Must have been too cold....

Had to get my blood taken by the Doctor vampires today. Normal routine stuff but, I got to witness something terrible. Things were going as well as they can before you get stabbed with a needle. I was sitting there and a mother with a 4 year old boy comes in and sits down. Turns out the little boy had to get his blood taken as well. I think to myself crap!!! This kid is gonna freak out. He seems fairly calm so I smile at him and get ready for the little prik they alway warn you about. I always look right at it when they stick me. Not sure why but, it makes it better for me. So she sticks me and I look at the kid and smile to reassure him that its all good. He is sitting in his mothers lap and he turns to her and asks, "is it gonna hurt Mommy"? And there it is. The terrible thing. She smiles and says no it will be just fine. He turns around and sticks out his arm like a man and looks at me. I keep smiling as the blood is running out of my arm into the bucket in the floor. The nurse wraps the rubber band around the little mans arm and prepares the arm for the stab. The kid is still calm when the nurse sticks him. He immediately starts to cry. But, it is not a scream or a shriek, more like a deep hearted let down kind of tears running down his cheeks. My heart sinks and I suck it up cause I just realzed what happened. The nurse finishes her job on him and he turns to his Mommy and says, "Mommy you lied to me it did hurt". He continues to weep.. She looks at me and I can't help but, see it in her face. I just added another brick in the wall between me and my son....................... Tell the truth people. Don't sugar coat stuff. Let your yes be yes and your no be no and for heavens sake don't lie to your kids. So I realize that I am getting dizzy and look at the nurse and say are you done with me? She shutters and says, oh I'm sorry. She was in a daze watching what just happend as well was I. She wraps it up and hands me "the cup". She says fill it up to here pointing at the line. I think to myself right. Nobody told me that I needed to come loaded. I fasted, rested and ate properley but, I took a leak before I got there. Crap!! So I go into the bathroom and squeeze a few drops out and put the cup in the hole in the wall. I made it out alive....Whew! I gotta go back for the doctor to do his thing on me later today and make me feel completely violated. Doctors are homos and I don't like em. Yea, right. They are just keeping you healthy. Whatever........

It is my day off and I'm gonna try not to go into the shop. Hodge yelled at me yesterday and told me not to come. I'm gonna make an effort but, I'm feeling weak. I just get so out of the loop in one day. It is amazing what can happen around that place in a day. Anyway, I will probably stop by and make sure all is well and get some lunch around 2:30 ish.

I have a custom set of Industry Nine 29er MTB wheels for sale if anyone wants em. I've been riding em. They gots about 150 miles on em or so. They are really nice. Peweter hubs and spokes with the stans arch rims. I'll take 800.00 for them . They retail for 1200 so its a good deal. Call the shop if you want them.

Well, gotta go back to the Doc.

Coach

Crackers

I haven't figured out why but, all my life I have reached into a ream of saltines and always pulled out an even number of crackers. Weird~~ I grew up on whole milk and crackers. Probably why I prefer salt over sugar most of the time. To this day I jones for Milk and crackers. The saltines have to be crunchy not stale and the milk has to be whole and fresh. Man I almost prefer that over beer....ALMOST! These are the type of details that I toil over day in and day out. I know, I am a freak and the little crap weighs heavier on my mind that it should but, I tend to notice things that most people do not. Call it a tortured artist scenario, or OCD, or just plain picky. The weird thing is that I did not grow up privelaged or coddled. I still turned out to be picky about certain things. Some stuff I could care less about but, the little pesky stupid shit drives me crazy. CRAZY!! Can any of you relate or am I alone in this? For the most part I'm cool about stuff but, there are a few things that I just cannot solve. Like the cracker thing. What is that all about? Yep, there are plenty of other things that I won't mention because you all would think I am nuts. Also I cannot figure out why I don't have a favorite color. For most of the time I pick black but, it depends on the day and the subject matter. Ask any normal run of the mill person and they will give you a standard blue or green or maybe even a red. No not me, I gotta make it difficult. I'm really not being difficult that is just how I am. Why did I bring this interesting characteristic up? Well, that is for you to toil over. Just let me paint this little picture for you. We get a delivery at the shop today from Cannondale. I look at the box and figure it is a frame. I did not order anything I figure it is a team deal that Wiley shipped to da shop. So I sign for it. Hours later I cut the invoice off the box and it reads one box of 14 red caad 9 frames. I think...that is weird I only got one box. Oh well, the rest must be in transit. Later on I open the one box and find a old colnago zipped tied to a piece of cardboard and the on the cardboard there are notes with arrows pointing to different parts of the frame. One say cracked top tube. Another says broken head tube. So I'm looking at this thing thinking what in the mountain of baby diapers is this thing doing in our shop shipped from cannondale? Are we a colnago dealer? NO. do we handle Colnago warranties? NO. Why in the hell did Cannondale ship me a broken colnago frame? So I call Cannondale. We go over the whole thing and the lady tells me that she has no idea about any of it. So............This must be an evil prank from the devil to taunght my psychie because I will think about this damn situation for days trying to figure it out. I take the frame out of the box and look it over. Yep it is broken, yep its a Colnago, yep I am in the fing twilight zone..........

So, it was slammed in the shop today. I worked my ass off all day and didn't get one repair completed. I got one huffy mostly done and it took me all day. No, I'm not complaining, just contrasting the type of day it was. After cleaning the shop a little so I could find the tools that I needed to do actual work I spent the morning answering phone calls and emails between working on the huffy and staring at a damn Colnago frame expecting it to change into a Cannondale or tell me its little story. I even started talking to this damn thing. I figured what the hell. It was a weird enough situation.

So base training is something that coaches inflict on athletes to test their mental game. Turns out that most of the athletes freak out and start seeing things. CRAP!!!! I have relegated myself to the trainer this week for a change. GET that a CHANGE ON THE TRAINER. Trainers are for crazy people that like to sit in one place and beat their head into the wall. Base training is like getting pecked to death by ducks. Geeeezuuusss!!! I have gained alot of respect for the pros if they actualy do this type of training. I'm starting to think that Nate and Hodge are just fing with me and laughing silently to see if I can actually complete 8 weeks of this crap. Well I can and I will. Maybe, I actually am in a coma and none of this is happening. Or maybe all of you are in comas and I am just one of the people that you see and read about in a stupid blog.......

One week till chirstmas. Hurry up and go buy the inventory at Addictive cycles!! Ha! Ride your bike. Drink your beer and have a good holiday.

Cheers,
CR

Music Snob?

OK Hodge, you are building up some real smack talk as of late. You forget that most of the people you smack talk live pretty far away from you and don't work in the same building every day. I'm pretty easy going most of the time but, you also forget that I can go off on you like no body else. Don't make me kick your ass and put pics on my blog so all your Buddy's can laugh. Music Snob? You are the one sending your kids to Hannah Montana concerts.....We will see who is scared of the dark my friend.......... Stop Hating on me punk!!!!

Disclaimer: For those of you that do not know us, we joke around alot so don't take offense. As for Hodge you can kiss it.

It is nice and cold today. Won't be riding my bike in this stuff. Gotta go do some family stuff anyway. Someone in the family will make sugar cookies every year and we all come together and decorate them. Fun for the kids and it gets the whole family together. I used to really hate it but, I've kinda been taken in by watching all different personalities collide. Kinda fun. We have all the same type of stuff going on that most families do. A couple of the women secretly hate one another and do nothing but, complain and moan until they get together and then they are best friends. Of course these are the two that are most active in church. This makes it impossible for me to have any loving healthy conversation with them because they know more than I do about God in their opinion......Go figure.... I've resolved myself to just keep praying for them and let God work on them in the outer court. Most of the men are just there to keep their wives happy and the kids seem oblivious all the while learning how to behave like their parents. Its just beautiful. Mix in a bunch of selfishly motivated conversation and generally superficial commentary and you have a perfect picture of what the day will be like today. In truth, it used to tear my stomach out but, I realized that none of this had anything to do with me so I might as well enjoy myself and do my best to be positive. I try to love most of them and my kids are everything to me. So I can donate a few hours of my life to put up with these people for the common good that comes out of it.

Well, gotta go get the kids from moms house. She borrowed them for the weekend to catch up on play time she missed while she was outta town. I missed them but, it was nice to have a few quiet hours for a day.

CR

Almost forgot I had a blog

So it has been a minute since I wrote anything here. I get kinda fed up from time to time so I shutdown alot of stuff. Been that kind of 2 weeks for me. Not sure what triggers it but, I just get the "I don't want to cope with all this crap" thing going on. Anyway, here I am.

Took 3 days off from the shop while the wife has been outta town..... I got my kids to take care of, me training to fit in and I am feeling it. This weather shift has affected me. Been feeling like a cold is coming on. Kinda weird for a guy that doesn't usually get sick. I think all the riding I have been doing has been keeping me run down and I am more apt to catch something. Nice! Yet another benefit of BASE training. Well, I got 4 more weeks of this crap and I will be off the leassh. So far it has done nothing but put me in the dumps attitude wise. I feel slow, fat, and generally pissed off. It is really great you should try it. Ha!!!!! I will be faster for it though so I gotta man up and finish it.

The shop has been crazy lately. We are over run with repairs that seem to not make us any money. I'm not sure how that happens. Repairs are free money. Between warranties and over discounting most folks that come thru the door we are gonna be in the poor house. We keep pulling it out though. To top it off this is a cutthroat business and anyone else with a bike shop seems to hate us. Nice! just the way I like it. Means we are a threat....... Damn right!

Keeping it short today. Gotta go ride my motorcycle. Riding my moto clears my head and makes me feel free. 5 bucks in gas and I can go almost anywhere. Maintenance is nill and I cant carry any excess baggage. Sweet!! The only thing better will be when me pop gets his ride and we can go riding together.

CR

It was cold

Went riding with Nate and Hodge this morning (or you could call it riding on the same trail that they were on Ha!) and it was freaking cold. I warmed up fine but, could not control my heart rate today for jack. So I did an hour and headed for the shop. Got alot done before we opened so I felt good about that.

We were slammed today. Phone was ringing off the hook and I was going 4oo mph in 4 directions all day. Vassagos showed up and we have 2 left for sale. Wow! I was hoping to have some stock but, we just can't hold on to these things. Awesome! Good for business. We like it. I'm gonna build a bander for myself to help with my base training (if someone doesn't buy it out fromunda me first). A few gears are nice on the hills when you have heart rate limitations. I got a rigid white bros carbon fork to use. That is a very nice unit I must say. We got an 18 Jabber demo frame. Need to build it up quick and get some folks on it. That will be realy cool.

Sent Hodge off to do the night ride at Yargo just now. He really doesn't know what he is in for I don't think. Ha!! Hes on his new Jabberwoky that we built today. Really freakin cool. He put a double chain setup on it. It looks really neat. Weighs a ton but looks really cool.

Nice eh!!!

I'm glad I have a low hour week this week. I think I need the mental break. Nate said that it was a good idea. He is right. There comes a point after so many hours in base training that you begin to get frustrated with the pace. So the break is nice. I will tell you that I am jonesing to go fast. I think that is why I got frustrated on the trail following those two yahoos this morning. They were keeping a good clip and I was walking the hills. Yikes!!!!!

Shop conversations went something like this today. Hodge - this bike rides like a truck. Me - get fit by Eddie. Hodge - this bike rides like a truck. Me - the geometry is different and you can't just swap your parts over from your IF. Hodge - I just feel weird on the bike. Me...... you get the point. So we are headed to 55nine tomorrow morning to get setup on our new rides. It makes such a difference. It is really hard for us to setup our bike now because we are so used to building our own personal bikes and setting them up a certain way. So we build one up for ourselves and take a stab and setting it up like Eddie would and it never turns out right. Eddie is the man. So we'll build them and let him dial em. I mean if you want to be comfortable and have a great bike we can do that easy. We can even make you go fast and be comfortable. What we can't do is get you dialed, and juice your legs for all they got. You want that, you go see EDDIE AND NAM!!!

So my littlest one Gracie (we call here GG) is talking more. It is awesome. She also made the next step towards using the facilities. Very nice!! My oldest (Emma) is going thru another quiet stage. It is interesting watching them grow. They go thru so many changes in a week. No wonder we are crazy by the time we grow up. I mean they grow so fast that half the time they are running into walls and objects because their bodies are changing too fast for their brains to keep up with their balance points. Very, strange. Anyway, I love the little critters and wouldn't trade em for nothin.

Dad has been happy lately. That makes me happy. I'm glad to see him havin hope for the future and what might lay ahead. He has had a crap load of hard times in his life for the most part and things are getting really good for him so he's excited about it. The govment is supposed to step up soon and give him his due disability money and man he is gonna be like a teenager let off the lease in a night club. If you ever get a chance to meet POP count yourself a true friend of mine. If I trust you enough to introduce you too him that means that I know you won't run off offended. Ha!! He's a great man but, he will slap your ass if you step outta line. Thats why we get along so well I guess. Something about the same mold.

I hope Hodge is freezing his butt off on the night ride right now. Just thougt I would throw that in there!!

So I have the greatest wife on the planet for those of you that don't know that yet. Yep, she is the best one. I found her and forced her to marry me. She spent 2 hours on the phone today to fix my internet connection just because she new that I would pull the rest of my hair out if I had to do it. The computer would end up in the yard and I would get arrested for running naked thru the neighborhood with a wiskey bottle in one hand and a gun in the other. She does alot for me. Keeps me together she does. Without her I would not know who or where I am. Seriously, she is the light that God sent me when I asked for a miracle.

Ahem! Enough sappy rumblings. Bad for me image they are.

Drink more beer,

   Cody

PARTY!!

Man we had some fun at the addictive party that Ashley and Kelly put on. I agree with Hodge. I really like these people. It's nice to have a bunch of fun people to hang out with that don't stress you out. I'll refrain from poking fun at em today and you can read Hodgies blog for the details. Lets just say that I hope we all hang together and keep having fun. Oh, and that Hodged gained 5 pounds from it. Ha!!!!

Here it is ladies. Grease cookie sheets. In a large bowl combine butter, sugar, egg and mole asses. Mix. Blend in remaining ingredients. Divide dough into 6 portions. Shape each part into a 12 inch roll on prepared cookie sheet; flatten slightly.Brush roll tops with water; sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake at 350 f for 12-15 minutes or until brown. Cool 5 minutes. Cut diagonally into 3/4 inch bars. Do not separate. Cool completely. Spoon glaze over bars after they have cooled. Present however you like. There it is..... Have fun with it.

I'll announce our Christmas party here soon.

Ok. I invited Sir Rich but, he decided to stay and keep the Hodgeomaticorocobaumameunchasionasauma company. I went to Yargo, did two laps and came back da shop. Hodge got some work done and then stuck his new Vassago Jabber in the stand and put fingerprints all over it. Hmmm......I think he may be in love with it. He's got some crazy ideas about building this thing. Ya know, it just shows how one bike frame can motivate someone. Pretty kewl. I guess thats why we like building em...

So the Hunters at Fort Yargo must have scared the Boo Boo outta the deer Tuesday and Wednesday. There was more Deer crap on the trail than one person can imagine. Anyway, I'm riding along by myself and I smell poo. I keep thinking, this stuff can't possible be iminating from the trail all over the place. So I keep ridin. At some point I reach up to wipe my nose and realize that there is mud on my had and nose. Except it aint mud. OH MY GOD. Must have ran over some and flung it........well anyway. After that I found myself laying in the woods on my head with my bike up my butt. After I realize that I'm not dead I realize something. Sh_t happens to everyone, just on this day it was for real and it happend to me. I collected my self, wiped my face off and had a real good laugh and thought I can't tell anyone about this crap!!! SHHHH.. Note to self, purchase the anti crap flinging tires.

I'm not tired anymore. I bumped my calories up being that I'm ridin 40 gazillion hours a week. That seemed to help alot. Who knew. A personal trainer that forgot to eat enough to meet his calorie requirements. I guess since selling my gym, I havce just kinda purged that material for a while. I spent so much time telling people how to eat and train I just got tired of it.....

Well, Hodge came in early and finished up Skeletors' wheel build. Wow, a full set of road wheels with a power tap that came in at 1660grams. That is light man. Good work. We got alot done this week and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I love it when a plan comes together.

Got an order of Vassago's hitting the Addictive doc first of the week. Fesh and ready to build up for some would be riders. Here is the rub though. 4 outta 6 are spoken for. Nice! Guess I'll order up some special Addictive style parts and build the other 2 up right. These bikes are so sweet I'm gonna have a hard time not keeping one.

Until next time, keep your nose clean,

Coach

Pain anyone?

Well, I like it evidently. I always seem to sign up for it. I guess you are the tracks that you leave behind. So, anyway. I figured that I wanted to get better for this upcoming race season. So, I am riding my bike more, alot more. I went from 4-6 hours a week training last year (sometimes more) to 15-25. WOW! you are thinking. Well so are my quads and the rest of my body. Yes, I'm tired and wondering just exactly why I decided to do this. Then it hits me........Because I want to be faster than the rest of you turkeys! Ha! On top of that, I now have the time to ride this much. I used to dream of this while sitting in a dimly lit square in cubicle city. Training is a strange thing. I been doing it all my life. Your body goes thru all kinds of cycles and changes, sometimes it is a mental game and sometimes it is physical. Either way its always a battle and I like it. Physical purpose seems to have a positive effect on my life. Kinda keeps me going...

It has been a pretty good week at the shop. Were paying bills and moving forward in the off season. That is always good. Business has been up lately with the addition of Vassago and Industry nine wheels. We are also building alot of wheels as we usually do. Nice!! Several tune ups and quite a bit of parts ordering as usual.

Nite rides have kicked off. Tuesday night we did a subsitute to our normal Yargo thing. They were killing out some of the Deer population at Yargo so we met on Thurmond tanner and rode for a few hours on the road with lights. That is a pretty good time. Something differnt at least. Actually, it was Kelly the bear and me. Bobby showed up as we were leaving. I had to jet so I felt bad, but my kids gotta come first.

Vassago update:

Bandersnatchs are in stock. Jabberwokys and optimus' will be mid to late January. Nice! They are discontinuing the shortbus yellow and replacing that color with Safety orange. Titanium will be available late Jan.

Looks like Hodge has jimmyed Sir Richared out of his Jaberwoky. Guess Hodge is making some attempt to catch me on the trail. Yup, hes got wheel envy. Some peoples children. Man, I can't believe that Sir Rich would let his Vassago go to Hodge nontheless for a custom INDEPENDANT FABRICATION! What is the world coming to. I can't wait to order that mean machine. I bet you Rich will have his Independant built before Blalock does....... Well, an Independant couldn't happen to a better person.

Phil 2:13
See you on the trail

Coach

Don't kick me I'll get up in a second

Geez! I know we need this rain but, it ain't doing anything for my motivation. As Hodge would say,"be glad you woke up" well I am but, I woke up wrong. Ya know when your just pissed and your not sure why.....don't want to do anything.

Got in early to clean up from the weekend. Shop wasn't that bad. Nice! I'm wrapping this MTB team up this week hopefully. We will have a good team this year, I'm very excited about it. Some folks have exited stage left for another team (something about money and free stuff). It's cool, can't blame em for wanting free shit. I know one thing, the greener the grass the more work is required to keep it that way.

I got in 14ish hours last week on the bike. Wow! I think I have successfully crossed over to CRAZY territory. I had fun though so I'll stick with it. Funny thing about excessive exercise, it makes you tired. I am beat. I took Sunday off to rest but, I am still beat. I figured it out this morning though when I took a drink of water and my body screamed,"give me more of that"!! I always seem to miss something. Not drinking enough water is bad.

Well, time to get greasy. Gotta jerk the fork off Papa Bills' bike and send it to C'dale.

Later,

CR

I'll drag the brake

Woke up and took my kids to the Awful Waffle. Yea, we do that once a month or so and they love it. I have a blast doing it and its cheap decent food. Alot of people slam on waffle house but, actually in the grand scheme of things you are getting real food. Not some over processed thing wrapped in paper. Sure they have some junk but, on average you can eat pretty decent if you are discriminating. We had some eggs, a waffle, milk and coffee. The coffee is terrible but, I was with them so I didn't care.

So. I went out to do some more road riding this morning in base of course. I've really been enjoying the road for the past week. It had been a few months since I sold my last Road bike and I have not ridden road since. Got the new team six 13. Freakin awesome it is. Anyway, Hodgie and I met over on Thurmond Tanner road along with Heath and started rolling. That is a wonderful winter training road. I want to strike up a night ride over there on the road soon. Maybe, next week. Still thinking about the time and day. So we are riding up and down Thurmon Tanner and I'm struggling at first on the hills to keep my heart rate down. Of course Hodge noticed and he coasted back and said,"I adjusted my rear brake to drag so I can keep my heart rate where yours is and we can ride together". I thought wow. You know that is really cool that a friend would be that nice to figure out a way to do more work so that they can hang with you. So I released my rear brake and free pedaled the rest of the morning. Sucka! Race tactics 101. Yea, I wish....

We spent more time talking about the shop than I hoped for. The Mtb team was the subject of the morning and how we can't give everything away like most other shops. True we can't, but thats ok I prefer it that way. We also don't require anything of our racers other than they race and that is good enough. We race with you, we bleed with you, we train with you and we fix your stuff when it counts and we do it right. I can sleep with that...Our team is simple, you pay for the jersey and you are on. We support you the whole season period. In other words, if you support us we support you.

Tomorrow is Turkey day and what are we doing. Riding. Is something wrong with us? This is not normal and I hear that from all kinds of people every day. It seems to fit for me so I go with it. Most folks can't imagine why in the hell anyone would ride a bicycle that much. Well, its called passion. I guess riding is just something that sets me free. Even when it is hard I love it. I have realized that alot of people don't have anything that they do like that. I feel blessed to have found something that I am this passionate about. Of course, my personality leans toward obsessive addictive behavior so maybe that is it. Well, it beats a crack habit for sure. Maybe, I'll be fit enough to ride with my kids when they get to be in their 30s. Heck yea!

So after the ride I went to eat lunch with POP. My dad is the coolest. We had some hot wings(good base training food) and talked about his VA claim. I think it is the VAs' job to make sure you die before you collect any of your money for your disibility due to war service. It is freaking ridiculous how much vets have to go thru to collect just enough to get by on. Shame on us I say. Not only do we send em off to fight wars that we probably shouldn't be fighting, we make it hell for them to get support when they get old. Anyway, he is hanging there like great soldiers do and he will get his due. STRIKE FORCE!!

So I went by the shop for a bit to take care of some things. After that I came home and decorated the christmas tree with the wife and kids. Kids are awesome man! They take pleasure in the simplest things. I love watching them and interacting with them. Maybe, they won't turn out screwed up like me...

Thanksgiving, Nates Party, Dedicated Athelets party, Kelley/Ashleys party. Whew! The holidays are not relaxing man but, they can be fun if you stay light about it all.

Happy T-day,

C

LEE ROY JENKINS BABY!!!!!

And he was in force on the first Addictive night ride of the off season and we had 10 people show up. If you don't know old Leroy your missin out, show up to the next Addictive style night smack down and you can meet him. Your life will never be the same. Man, I have not had that much fun on my bike in a while. I absolutely love riding with these TURKEYS! Of course I am in base and I will admit to you that it is almost impossible to keep your heart rate in check riding with these guys. Not only are the wicked fit, but you will laugh yourself right out of base.

Attending were:

Preacher Mike (new guy to the night life)
Big Willie
The Johnstons (father and son)
Andy the leaf diver
Sir Rich......
Me the Code Red
Asian Mike....
Heath Bar (not sure what he thinks about us or night riding yet)
Kelly the Bear

Ok. Well good old leaf diver didn't let us down. He pulled his best fall yet when Bigggg Willie brake checked him on a climb. I went by (and may have nuged him) and down the leafy bank he went with the bike landing on top of him. He got his retribution though when we were lauging. He acted hurt and we all felt bad. Of course he was not hurt, just posing like Dave I can't make the first night ride of the Addictive off season base training, the Sissy. That may have been a run on. Sweet!!! Yea, we pretty much all decided that Dave is a sissy and he might be gay or something. Somebody in the group asked him if he was coming out tonight and he said that he wasn't ready. Not that there is anything wrong with that.....for him. I think it was Rich that noticed it with something about pink socks.

We were laughing passing pushing and overall acting like a bunch of hooligans and having a blast. Of course the new guys thought we were all insane and can't wait to come out again and watch. All in all it was more fun than (insert something vulgar or interesting here).

So, I'm in the 3rd week of base and man I forgot how many hours one person can spend on a bike going 5 miles a day. I'm quite certain that I will blow this training running from Dave for relaying the message from the guys. Geez Wiz! I new I was wasted for the year but, I am in worse shape than I realized and to top it off Hodge keeps telling me how slow he is. I keep thinking to myself. Dude you are way faster than me. Thanks for letting me down easy I guess.....

New website is up. Hope you all like it and if you don't then, well, take a flying leap. Mikes' wife worked really hard on that smack. Really, I hope you all like it and if you don't take a flying leap (gotcha). Yea, I know that was stupid but, so are blogs! We all put alot of time and effort into creating the website and we plan on keeping it up to date so check in often.

Well, I gotta go to bed so I can get up early and ride my road bike with the Hodgeomaticbinhabaraba. What is up with that crazy name crap? Ahh the good life.

If you don't like me wait a minute I'm sure it will get worse,

All in fun

In the immortal words of Eric Idle, Always look on the brite side of life.........

CoDe ReD

Got up this morning to go ride MTB with Hodge and Nate. I was really looking forward to that but, I realized that once again I could not close my hands due to this crazy virus. Crap! Hodge called me later and asked why I didn't show so I told him. He gave me the day off (nice of em) to rest so I could be in good form next week. Fortunately, I am feeling better today so I think this thing is on its way out. Good riddens!!

I went to the shop anyway because a day without any bicycles is bad. I also had a sneaking suspision that my new road bike would show up and it did. I built it and brought it home. I can't wait to get fit on it and ride. It is the new six13 in black. Team colors for N2racing. Sweet!!! This is the nicest bike I have ever had. Full duraace and carbon bits. Should be a nice ride...

So, here is an official review for 55nine performance fitting services. Bottom line on waublenaught fitting is that it works. I had Eddie Odea fit me on my mountain bike and I can tell you that it was the cheapest upgrade I have ever purchased. He radically changed everything on my bike (this is not always typical) so I was sceptical. He coached me on my pedal stroke and told me to give my new fit 30 days before I made any decisions on what I thought. He explained that I had not been using my quads very much and that I would go through some body changes before I became truly efficient. Well, he was right. I will say that I was immediately able to put more power on the ground. After a couple of laps on my favorite trail I was used to the way my bike handled with the new setup. All around my bike handles better, I am able to put more power on the ground and I am way faster with less energy expended. 55nineperformace has changed my perspective on the importance of bike fit and I will be forever greatful for the increased performance and fun I have on my bike now.
Cody Yancey Addictive Cycles

Cheers and Beers

Coach

Woke up ok this morning. Going to bed all stiff again. Jeez! Ok, I won't rant about that god awful condition again.

Got the team Jersey almost sorted out today. It is gonna look pretty cool I think. Maybe, even better than last year. Now if I can just get commitment from eveyone for the quantities I can order them and maybe they will get here before February. Sweet!!

Today was pretty good. Had good breakfast and a decent cup of cofee. I'm outta Jittery Joes and did't have time to run down there so I had to have something else. It was ok.. Got to the shop early and banged out some paperwork. Nice!

Saw my pop today. I always like hanging out with him. It lets me know that I am not the only crazy person in the world. We get along great and we always have a good time together. I think its pretty cool when you like your parents. I meet so many people that don't get along with their families that I feel blessed that I do.

Well, I'm tired and don't have much to say tonight. I was hoping for a ride tomorrow but, I will have to wait to see how I feel in the morning.

C

Our new wheels are gonna sit you down!!!!!

Just a note. If you ever hear of anything remotely sounding like 5ths disease. RUN!!!!!!! OH MY GOD. I don't think I have ever unvoluntarily hurt this bad ever. Calm down. It is temporary or so the doc said. It is a virus of some kind that evidently all of us get at one time or another. Cripes. My little girl got it somewhere, who knows, maybe from school. So she brings it home and kisses daddy on the cheek and WHAM! A week later I can't Fin move. This morning I woke up and tried to get out of bed and it looked like a freaking nursing home. You can't move hardly at all. All of your joints hurt so bad you want to kill someone. Anything, that was sore from riding your bike already feels like it will fall off at any moment. I mean I'm a pretty tough guy but, crap I feel like a sniveling ninny......... Poor little girl. I told her there were no monsters...... I had never heard of 5ths or 6ths or any other crap like that before. Turns out that by the time the symptoms show up you are not contagious. Sneaky little bastard..

Enough about that other than the fact that it hurts like hell and "can last up to 3 weeks". I hope not. I mean I physically can't ride my bike. I tried today and almost got my shoes on. Pitiful.. No chance I will blow my heart rate base training though.

Ok, so the new website should roll out at the end of this week so keep your eyes peeled for that gem of Korean goodness from Mikeys Shorty. It looks really cool and will be easier to use and will have up to date info on it. What a concept.

Went to the shop today and watched Hodgie rearrange the shop. I must say that it looks freaking awesome! Good job Homie. I mean what a difference. During the MTB meeting both Hodge and I noticed that the shop felt really good with nothing in the middle of it. So we cleared out the middle and put a very little pile of closeout shoes that are 50% off for a limited time only buy one pair get the other pair 50% off as well so it is a really good deal...... Stop by and check it out and we will throw in a 2 year old Addictive Cycles T shirt in XXXXXXXXL. Quantities are limited....

This years MTB team is gonna be fun. I can't wait to mix it up. We are gonna have so much fun. Lots of kewl people to ride with. We are sponsored by Vassago and will be rocking their bikes. They ride awesome! I can't say enough about my Jabberwoky. I love it and it loves me. I think they built that bike custom to my measurements or something. Of course it helps that Eddie and Nam set me up on it. Talk about 2 of the niceset people that can really make you go faster. You should call em right now. Their bike fitting is by far the cheapest money you will ever spend to go faster right away. 55nineperformance.com

Night rides will start at Fort Yargo this coming Tuesday at 630 pm. We gotta be out by 10 so we should be able to do 4-5 laps if we stay in our base range on single speeds. Ha! Right. I plan on walking most of the hills so I will be lucky to get one lap in by 10pm......

Well, I'm going to bed early in hopes that I will wake up not feeling like a 17 year old golden retriever in the morning.

Forget about the tiny pickels, you are naked,
Code Red

V A S S A G O

Yes. Another awesome Saturday. Went to the shop today on my day off. I like to do that, just ask Hodge, I think it pisses him off or something. He always asks me what the F I am doing at work and why don't' I get the hell away from there. I usually shrug and say something non-profound and he looks at me like I am crazy. Of course I am used to that because, most of the rest of the world seems to be bewildered by my behavior. I get a simple pleasure from being at work when I am not supposed to be. Maybe, it is because I had to work so much when I didn't want to at something I hated that I feel like I am part of something that is greater than most people realize it is and I don't want to miss a second of it. Yea, I don't get paid half the time But, I don't imagine they will be handing out paychecks in heaven either..... I learn alot about our business and I often get more done when I'm not supposed to be there. I think the reason is that I spend more time on the other side of the counter when I am there on my day off. I have noticed that cusomers talk to me more and I tend to notice that our service area is really nasty so I start cleaning..... Anyway, enough of that crazy wierdness.

So, I got the new website hashed with Crackerkoreans shorty....(Stacey, yes I remebered your name). It is really gonna be cool. I did a repair or two. Broshe and Baily came in and entertained me with stories about Hodge in his yonger days last year. Hmmmm... I was around and didn't see some of this stuff.

I helped Mike start his new set of wheels for his new MTB build. I love to see that kind of excitement over doing something new. We had a good time and I got another Addictive tradition wheel build off and going. Mike is really a kewl dude. He might be just as wierd as the rest of our Motley crue......

After Hodge almost got to the shop I went for MTB ride at the College with My bro big MATT. He bitched at me the whole way about how I was doping and there was no way that I was staying in my base zone. He is on crack. He has a new baby and has not been riding. Pretty much anyone could run faster than he can go on his bike right now. I mean he is running on no sleep, new dad blues, no ridin, over eating etc. Anyone, that has kids can tell you that the first year is like that. I got two of em so I know. 2 laps and I had to go, I couldn't take the heckling anymore and I needed to run some errands.

I left the college and went back to the shop to check on Mike and his wheel build. I got there and him and Hodgie were talking about nutrition or some crap and the wheels were rusting. I got em started again. I think there are gonna be a good set of first handbuilt wheels for Mikey. I left the shop and came home. I had some bread and hummas for dinner and drank a few beers. I finished the night playing with my wonderful daughters. After bath time I put em to bed and sat down to write this wonderful blog that you have spent your time reading......Why I will never know..

Vassago Update. This bike rules, I have almost 6 hundred miles on this bike in 3 weeks. Wow! It handles like it is on rails and the power transfer should be illegal..

Anyway,
See you on the trail

So my kids are at gymnastics and I am here at the shop. It doesn't happen that often and it beats the hell outta working for corporate america wasting away in the monotany of post modern hell.

Damn Farmer, your bike is hosed. Hope they give you 8000 for it.....

Blalocks bike is gonna be badd ass. I am jealous on this one. Hes gettin a IF in the team panel colors and he is trickin it out big time. I can't wait to build it and ride it before he does. Maybe, I'll fill the frame with lead or something to get back at him for out doing me.

Psycobilly has really been helping out the shop lately. Props brother. I really appreicate what you are doin.

Had my lactate threshold done yesterday at Nates place. Yea, thats right I'm a pro.........whatever. At least I beat Hodgie..
